Dr. Ľubomír Skladaný is one of the leading Slovak hepatologists and gastroenterologists. He is the leading hepatologist at the Transplantation Center in Banská Bystrica. He was significantly involved in the launch of the liver transplant program, which is the most prestigious medical program of the F.D. Roosevelt University Hospital in Banská Bystrica. He initiated the establishment of a separate hepatology-gastroenterology department and nephrology department (HEGITO), which provides care for patients before and after liver transplantation. He is the president of the Slovak Hepatological Society and a regional expert in hepatology.
He completed his education at the Comenius University in Bratislava in the field of general medicine. His further education included a specialization in internal medicine 1. and 2nd degree, specialization in gastroenterology and hepatology and postgraduate studies at the Slovak Medical University in Bratislava. He developed his erudition in the field through many study stays at prestigious workplaces abroad, including the Transplantation Center in Brno, the IKEM Transplantation Center in Prague, the Surgical Clinic in Maastricht, the Liver Unit in Barcelona, the Liver Unit Hospital Paul Brouse in Paris and the Gastroenterology Clinic of the University Hospital in Hanoverians.
Doctor Ľubomír Skladaný works as the head of II. of the Internal Clinic of the SZU Faculty Hospital with F.D. Roosevelt Polyclinic in Banská Bystrica and emeritus leading hepatologist of the Banská Bystrica Transplantation Center. It develops its scientific activity through scientific publishing activities in domestic and foreign publishing houses, registered in the Scopus and WoS databases.
Doctor Ľubomír Skladaný is a member of several professional societies. He is the president of the Slovak Hepatological Society, a member of the Slovak Internal Medicine Society, a member of the Slovak Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, a member of the European Society for the Study of the Liver, and a member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases. He is also a member of several editorial boards and the Scientific Board of the FZOŠ SZU Banská Bystrica.
