Professional profile

MUDr. Jozef Pribula, PhD., MBA, has been working in the field of neurology for more than two decades. After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, he began his professional career as a secondary physician at the Neurology Department of the Municipal Hospital in Litoměřice, where he worked as a resident and consultant for neurology within the interdisciplinary intensive care unit until obtaining the European specialization exam in the field of neurology (there, as part of a nationwide and international project and registry, he introduced thrombolytic treatment of acute stroke with recombinant tissue plasminogen activator /rt-PA/ into clinical practice), while as part of pre-certification preparation, he spent a year at the Neurology Clinic of the Faculty Thomayer Hospital in Prague – Krč, where he also successfully passed the certification exam in 2009.

He then moved to Germany, the federal state of Saxony, where he first worked at the Klinik Am Tharandter Wald as a Facharzt (senior consultant) for neurology in a 45-bed intensive care unit (including acute hospital beds for controlled breathing and gradual weaning) for patients with the most severe diseases of the central and peripheral systems, injuries to the central nervous system, and patients suffering from neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and other dementias.

His professional medical activity was interrupted by a three-year managerial position as Deputy Medical Director of Svet zdravia, a. s., when in 2015-2018, among other projects, he participated in setting up internal medical processes and medical quality at the Michalovce New Generation Hospital, until its launch in December 2018.

After this project and his return to Germany, as part of his continuous increase in professional clinical experience, he gained further clinical experience in the Federal State of Bavaria, where he worked at the Neurological Intensive Care Unit and the Neurological Department of Kliniken Passauer Wolf in Bad Griessbach.

He subsequently accepted a job offer from his original employer, where he worked at Klinik Am Tharandter Wald until the end of 2020 as Leitender Oberarzt der Intensivstation (Chief Physician of the Intensive Care Unit).

From January 2021 to the end of August 2023, he again served first as Medical Director of AGEL SK, a. s. and later as Director of the Educational, Scientific and Research Institute AGEL, n. o., and also as Medical Director for the Medical Quality Management System. During this period, he also served as a long-standing permanent member of the Categorization Commission of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic and participated in the project Optimization and Categorization of the Hospital Network of the Slovak Republic.

Since April 2024, he has been leading his own non-state healthcare facility in the field of neurology in the Sabinov district. As a member of the Board of Directors of the University of Prešov, he closely cooperates with the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Prešov, where he is one of the external academic staff with continuous lecturing activities and one of the guarantors for the field of occupational therapy.

MUDr. Jozef Pribula, PhD., MBA is a member of the German Neurological Society (DGN – Deutsche Gesellschaft für Neurologie), the German Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Ultraschall in der Medizin – DEGUM), the Saxon Medical Chamber (SLAEK – Sächsische Landesärztekammer) as well as the Slovak and Czech Medical Societies.
